CCT definition of upgrade

Post by chaz »

A question about ugraded standard CCT's.
Called into the local main agent today to ask about price of cct's.
What Ive found out is the new CCT's have orange spots on, last year I bought replacements from Dave Silver, these were pink spots.
seems like silvers are selling off old stock that has been replaced, question is , how long are they likely to last?
also trying to get a deal on APE manuals, as the main cct article was written using standard ccts, has anyone done a info write up on manual tensioners and just how tight to do them up.

Hey Chaz, I went directly to A P E for my manual CCT's only took a couple of days "really good service" I found them easy enough to fit and have had no problem since . You might try Debben performance if you need them straight away ,"if "they have them in, to be honest they messed me around a bit.

Try.APE at.......salespat@aperaceparts.com
Debben performance.....01425474628
As regards tightening them to the right tension,I just did them up hand tight
and then backed them off half a turn ,pinched up the locknut then turned the engine over by hand (plugs out) in gear...small ajustments can be made with
engine running.....................or big ajustments if it goes bang :D

Hope this helps ChrisC

I must have been lucky finding a pair of brand new APE CCT's on Ebay for £60, even luckier that no one else bid on them. Chi ching

Well worth the money for piece of mind BTW.
Red (the fastest colour) 98 Storm, APE CCT's ART Titanium high level cans, Airblade smoked double bubble screen and the shopping list is still growing!

I bought mine from Debben and rang them for help and found them really friendly.
The tensioners do come with instructions for tensioning with the cam covers off and I followed them and have had no problems since nor any need to adjust them (after about 10Kmiles now)
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

As I've just said in another topic, I'm not sure that is entirely true. I purchased from David Silver back in June 09 and the CCT I received did have an Orange dot on it.

Any chance of posting the instructions?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
