Insurance
Welcome back!
I was with H&R ( http://www.insurance2000.co.uk ) for last 2 years and they were really good (£340 last year) but just switched to Honda at £225 tpft. It was worth the wait to get through!

I ride way too fast to worry about cholesterol.
Went through Carole Nash this year. TPFT £190 thats unlimited mileage, garaged, 33 yrs old, full NCD on £5000 bike with £350 xs.
Best quote out of all the usual suspects, especiallly as the bloke on the phone twice put me on hold and reduced the premium alleging that he was cutting back on their profit. According to 2 other brokers there would be nearly nothing in it for them at that price. Good, prompt service but couldn`t do me a good deal on my car though.

.... no more bike, divorce sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with Carole Nash too, £330 TPFT, 1 yrs NCB, no points (then), garaged and datatooled.
Beware, I don't get commuting in with that, they wouldn't even consider it, only Social Domestic and Pleasure!
Every ones raving about Honda at the minute, give them a try too

I got knocked down, but i'll get up again and you'll never ever keep me down!
Well having just passed the test, I rang the insurance company to see what the reduction would be. He said that I would get a cheque in the post for €100 as a refund for the rest of this year.
What is it likely to be next september on renewal?
Oh, bout the same as this year. (€1250.00 third party no F/T )
Whaaaat?????????
Well, you see all those school goers with scooters that carry passengers? Well they are not licenced to carry passengers, neither are they insured, but a new EU directive says we have to pay for them now. I have 104 claims on my desk for this week alone, and I'll be paying all of them. Insurance went up 20% this month alone......

I'm with Carole Nash, got my renewal in the post yesterday.
It was EUR1366, the same as last year(26 this year with a full license and two years no claims).
I rang up to see what they were playing at and the girl from nash said I should be glad that it hadn't gone up(wtf?!!!) That there were more bikes on the road and insurance had gone up...
I explained to her that when you factor in an extra years no-claims,age,time with full license that the premium had in fact gone up.
I asked her if there was anything she could do for me on the premium and she flat out said no, she said thats the way it is(i.e. like it or lump it)
I rang back later and got a different operator. I asked her if she could knock anything off and she took fifty quid off the premium on the spot.
I'm gonna wait til I've got a receipt of payment & then I'm gonna complain about Ms. A's attitude.
Even with the fifty quid off I'm still pissed at having to pay that kind of money for third party only cover(no f&t).

Pete,
I only have the licence a week or so, and coming up on my second years no claims in September. I will be 28 at the time of my renewal and I am getting it for between 100 and 200 less. Did you try Aon Bike care through Hibernian? Ring 01 7037400, and ask for bike insurance and see what they come up with.
Do Carole Nash have breakdown recovery built in? Aon have nothing extra at all, the basics only. My auld lad is with Carole Nash and has breakdown and all kinds of extras. Oh the joys of the paddies screwing each other with insurance claims!
I tried bargaining with them on my renewal last year, but because there is only the two bike insurers the ba$tards can do what they like!
