Apologies if you're all tyred of the same question, but technologies change/improve all the time so I thought it best to get a fresh opinion or several
I need a new rear for my Storm. Should I stick with Metzeler or change to Maxxis?
I only ride roads (no track) and I'm not a very "spirited" rider so just need something that gives me lots of confidence and reasonable wear rate.
just fitted a battleaxe bt14 only reason is thats what is on the front, instead of the bt21 that was on there. had it been a pair , I would probably gone avon as they are cheap from the factory.
Maxxis are cheap but havnt had much feedback as yet. just make sure you fit matching not different makes as can upset handling

Avon Storm-ST now, even on the SP. Mega long life and more grip than I can use.
Interesting. I had Avon Storms put on my GSXF about 2 weeks before I fell for my Storm so never got much chance to stretch them, but maybe worth a look at prices.
My issue with the 2 I mentioned in my first post is that a Metzeler rear will cost almost as much as a Maxxis pair. The front is still OK so could stay a while but it seems daft to pay Metzeler price for a single when I could replace both for similar money. Need to price Avon and compare.

I have had BT020, BT021, Dunlops, all sorts on 3 Storms, ZRX1200 and the CB13 and the Maxxis are every bit as good as the other tyres i have tried for a fraction of the cost at £115 a pair from Paul Smeetons Bitz for Bikez in Rochdale (they do mail order).
Just checked and they have stuck them up to £124.95 a pair, still a good deal though. BitzforBikez deal clicky
Glad i bought 2 sets last time i bought tyres now, have a spare set in the garage
Not got my 'storm now ,but i think this is the tyre sizes ,advertised for a Thunderace ,same size tyres , great value at £113 pair
