Well, after months of "what to do?!" I've bought Mikes SP1 some might have seen in the For Sale section...

I tried to resist but couldn’t...I knew if I bought the blade I'd seen I'd have been bored after 6 months and sold it. I had a bit of a mess around from the seller too which kind of tainted it slightly.

I looked at other options-RSV, another Storm/TL - but the RSV just didn’t cut it and the other 2, well, I’ve been there and done that

A VTR1000F is a good bike but it's no SP1 I'm afraid. The TL would have probably dropped to bits on me

Always wanted an SP-it's been my dream bike for a long time, I've just never had the money or opportunity.

So I've taken the plunge and gone for Mikes. A credit to him-it's a minter I'll do my best to look after and take care of it.

So, there you go-back in the Honda fold now

I remember riding an SP2 on a Honda demo rideout. Over time the riding position would be crippling I thought, but the ease at which the digital speedo just rose and rose was amazing. Sounded good even with standard cans.

Another one for my "favourite garage" when or if that ever happens!

Congrats again mate, the riding position takes some getting used to but it's certainly roomy enough to ease those cramps and pains. I find the only down side is 30mph zones, low speed is not the SP's strong point with the sharp fueling and std gearing. As you may know I did Newark Lincs to Perth Scotland and back (for Martys visit ) in two days so it cant be that bad. Look fwd to meeting up when the weather breaks.

Know what you mean Stratman-the riding/seating posistion is quite comfy for me though tbh. I'm 5ft 9"ish so it fits quite nice. It's quite like my old RGV250R but more solid. Besides if Id have wanted comfort I'd have bought a Blackbird

nice one matey, i find the ridng position on mine better that my old storm! same as others have said tho 30mph zone's can be a bitch, love mine to bits and even if i ever do fancy a change the SP's gonna stay in my garage

I too, longed after one for years, and like you took the plunge this year.

You wont regret it!!

After 6 months of ownership and 4000 miles it gets better every time I am out on it.

At 6' 2" the bl%dy SP1 I tried really hurt. After 20 miles I was stuck. Seized me up it did. Needs Auotobahn not town traffic for sure.
Now the '916' is tiny but not as painful IMHO as the SP1 I rode. Mind you, a crackin' bike Grommet if you're in the right size bracket!!!!!

5' 8" for me. But you are right you know, having the Aprillia RSV R prior to the SP1 it feels tiny. The Aprillia is definately for the "taller" rider.

On a note about the quality of a Honda, I recently stripped and thoroughly cleaned the SP1 on me bike bench. On taking apart the rear end (Oooer missus!!) the quality of the fit was fabulous.

Having stripped and cleaned bikes for 25 years this was the best by far in terms of fit and finish, I can now see why prices remain strong on these machines and indeed the words "future classic" may well ring true.

An IL4 is always going to loose out in my book Chris Don't matter if it's got 180bhp or its the best money can buy...you can't replace that VTwin thunder and feel Not saying I wouldn't have one-nearly did-but I think I'd still have to have a V in the garage

I am 6ft and its not a problem at all, dont think theres any difference in size between the SP1 and 2.
