David silvers

Post by vtr..al »

Excellent service from them regarding delivery...although one of the tensioners i bought of them turned up and when i took it out of the packet the circlip was hanging off and the thing was in about four different parts.

I did reassemble it but the spring seems very weak(hardly any resistance)....so its going back for a replacement.Rang them this morning to be told by a message that they are closed till new year and as items are supposed to be reported faulty within 48 hours i'm not sure how that will work?

Reassembled the bike with the old rear tensioner fitted but have done the "stop" mod so if it goes it should not be to drastic!!....Oh and the bike sounds lovely

Al, that's your best bet IMHO to get a replacement CCT. It's not easy to get the correct tension IMO. You should be safe enough now anyway with the stopper mod.

Well i stuck the original rear in yesterday without the stopper just to hear it run but i was up quite early this morning and everyone else was in bed so i went down to the garage and decided to do the stopper mod.Was surprised as it only took about an hour...tank off, plugs out, rear valve cover of and piston at TDC...fiddliest part was getting the tensioner out as the rear brake pipe, earth lead and stop light switch all get in the way.

A question for others that have done this mod...how long was the stopper you required? mine only needed a 10mm stopper...suppose it depends how much your camchain has stretched etc.

Just need two exhaust nuts now and its sorted

I think mine were around the 10mm mark too, but it was a while ago I did mine now.

It surprising how quick it can be done once you're familiar with the process hey Al :)

You take the head off the plunger by removing the small mills pin then it fits inside the plunger.

Bit of sawn-off M8 bolt thread did it for me, about 10.5 and 11.5 mm lengths were what I needed.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
