4000km's is not a good milage to get out of a cct. I was reading on a local fourm that a fella had his frount cct let go on him at 4000k. I have a F3 and its done 8000k so why hasent mine gone?
It seems weird that some go and some dont considering that these bikes are made identicaly why is that? and I would of thought that the milage on these fulty cct's would be 20,000k before crapping out.
How many of you guys have had to replace these bloody things? and what milage was it? also what year bike?

It does't seem to follow any rules. The first one I changed was at approx 18.5k miles. The replacement only lasted about 7000 miles. The rear one has been in the bike from new and has covered nearly 27,000 miles.
So if I was you I would just listen for the fluttery/slap of the chain and change em real quick.
Hope that does't happen too soon

Well this breaks all the records so far, I recieved an email from one of the locals here who brought a new F3 last yea,r his 2nd Storm and on the way home his CCT sh1t its self at 50km.... thats five zero, 50km's now thats just baldrocks Mr Honda.
At least he dident have any probs with warrante issues

CCT failed @ 17.5k mls
Mine went and caused quite a bit of damage ... was only doing 15mph at the time through traffic!!!
Apparently they are more prone to failing when the bike is ridden hard or when you do frequent short runs...
After it was replaced & repaired (£540,- !!!) I have had no problems. This is 7k mls later. I am still nervous about the cct going again though...
The mechanic told me that he gets Firestorms in on a regular basis with this problem but that Honda does not recognise the problem.

Some time ago one block in the States set up a pettition on-line - Many VTR rides across the global had signed up ... It was sent to Honda VP's in the States & the UK .... Never seen a reply - I must say that this will be inthe back of my mind next time I will buy a motorbike.
