Gearing question
Gearing question
Have searched previous posts but not sure of answer so...
What do you reckon
a) drop one on front and add one on rear (15/42)
or
b) keep front the same and add two to rear (16/43)
Am looking for more fun but don't want it to be totally crazy all of the time...
Thanks for your input...
James

Re: Gearing question
I'm a rear man myself
Supposed to be kinder on the chain but I still managed to wear them out pretty quick. Also think it's the best mod out there for the bucks

Re: Gearing question
17/43 would actually be taller than the stock 16/41....
15/42 is slightly lower than 16/43. Either one will improve acceleration noticeably.
Use the link below if you want to get an idea about the outcomes of various combinations:

Thanks all.
That is a great speadsheet milk_str, cheers.
15/42 looks like it should be more than fine....

Re: Gearing question
Personally for what you're after I'd recommend a 43 tooth rear sprocket. It's definitely better than standard, but not too mental.Am looking for more fun but don't want it to be totally crazy all of the time...

Re: Gearing question
Sorry guys another question on this.
I have looked on gearing commander and can't be totally sure of the answer.
If I go up 2 teeth on rear can I use standard chain length?
Same question for -1 front and +1 rear.
Thanks again for patience!

You want one of these for a Hornet, this will fit the firestorm as it's the same, apart from, it has 43 teeth and not 41:-

**EDIT** It won't allow me to link direct to the Hornet one, but you can do that yourself from the drop down menu in the link. Here's a pic of the exact one. Right code and price included:-

HTH,
Chris.
Re: Gearing question
