Fuel Filters

Post by seb421 »

Hi all,

recently ive been brimming the bike when ive filed it up, some times going over the rim a little and because i usualy fillup in the dark on the way to work or from work i hadent relised around the outside of the rim of the spout there is loads of fine girt/dirt and when ive over filled it its gone over the spout onto this stuff then taken some of it through the over fill hole into the tank (i think)

not sure how good the internal tank filter is or how accesable it is or intercangagble

was wondering if these are any good?

would it slow down fuel flow to the carbs if one if placed in the fule line?

cheers guys.

The internal filter is probably about 130mm long inside the tank and is accessible by taking the fuel tap off, if its not split then it will do the job.

If the fuel has overflowed then no problem as the dirt would be washed down the overflow pipe and deposited on the road.

Can't comment on the in-line filters, not used them.

cheers phill, i just put my fingers other side of that hole and it does indeed route it away. i allways assumed that hole just went stright back into the tank.

I thought that when it goes down the overflow drain it goes down a pipe and onto the floor??

I am probably wrong but that's what I thought.

If you have a lower fairing then it pools in the bottom of it first!!
