UK - road legal replacement exhaust

Post by Fester »

At some point I want a different exhaust on my Storm, but it must be road legal, and preferably high mount (even better underseat, like the Staintune(which isn't road legal in the UK). So, to save me wading through all the posts and looking at all the sites, can anyone list for me those that ARE road legal, sound nice, look nice, and are high mount (if there are any!)? 8)
TIA

I fitted high level Scorpions to mine. They`ve got removable baffles but still sound good with them in. Cost me £350 from Rhino Dyno in Croydon.

Are you saying that with the baffle in thay are legel but with them out they are not??

I have a low set of Scorpions and they are a bit to loud around town, but they do have race use only stamped on them (thats ok over here  )

Yep, they are `e` marked making them legal but with the baffle out they are loud. Too loud when I leave at 5am so they have the baffles in. Even with the baffles in they are much louder!!

I just bought the Scorpions with the removable baffles. Whilst with them out there is more low down, I found myself changing up earlier than normal as I was aware of the noise through villages etc, so I have decided to leave them in as they still sound good but I know that they are legal in case I get stopped!

Anyone know if these baffles fit any Scorpion can and if they can be bought seperately?

I've got round stainless steel ones and wondered if they could be converted as the neighbours don't really appreciate my early morning starts

Cheers

They come with spacers for the footrests. Don`t do what I did and snap a footrest bolt. Cost me just over £30 to fix! Doh!!

The baffles may fit but they have an allen key bolt that fits through the tail pipe underneath and screws into the baffle to hold it in place. Sure it could be modified though you`d need to check the diameters of the baffle/pipe.

Blue flames, two pairs of plugs to leave in or take out, play about to your heart's content. Legal plugged, very fruity with one pair out, may take out the others for Storm Gathering. £400 stainless, but then you didn't get into this game to save money did you?

Just been in touch with a guy at http://www.performancemotorcycleparts.com who says he can supply the baffles for my Scorpion cans but he says they won't make the cans legal... just quieter.

Is that because the E-Mark is on the actual cans? Anyone with those cans and baffles who can shed some light?

Look in the for sale section, I am selling some ART high level cans that are road legal with removable baffles.

Sounds right up your street mate.

I'm not sure it matters whether they wear the "e" mark or not - if they are too loud to be legal.....then they ain't legal.

That said I don't know of anyone who's been pulled JUST for loud cans - riding like a tw&t AND having loud cans yep, too fast AND loud yep again but just loud - no.

What the hell, they'll only ask you to get it tested if you do get a tug anyway so you may as well just enjoy the noise & the neighbours will just have to get used to it.
