Semi or Full?...... (oil that is)
Semi or Full?...... (oil that is)
hi guys i remeber reading recently about a lot of semi-synthetic oil being used.
ive used fully synthetic since ive had this bike at around 13,000 or 14,000 miles now over 24,500 ... have i done bad?
is the storm only supposed to have semi-synthetic oil? ive mostly used castrol fully synthetic racing oil or gps and i think ive used putoline oil once or twice, i do prefer putoline but hardley see it.

If you are not having a problem then don't worry about it Seb. A few bikes are prone the clutch slip when using fully synth so the semi is recomended.

I've thought about using fully synthetic before, how has yours behaved with this? any problems that you noticed? In the manual it says semi.

My Storm has done 18K on full with no ill effects.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.
Re: Semi or Full?...... (oil that is)
Not worth scrimping in this area of maintenance. Silkolene,Motul,Castrol, all the top names are good stuff. Unless you ride an 08 Blade then you might as well use Halfords, it wont be in there long enough to break down

Seb,
My bike has always had Putoline semi-synth but I see you have a job locating that make yourself.
I have to agree with Jim (Beamish) there's no point in scrimping on oil, as oil is the heart of your engine.
Chris.

Re: Semi or Full?...... (oil that is)
I just avoid Castrol.
The oil's fine, but I resent them treating me like an idiot with their theory that oil sticks to metal parts like a magnet.
Oil's non-magnetic, and so are a large number of the alloy engine parts.
If you can't trust their basic science, I'm not buying their products.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: Semi or Full?...... (oil that is)
Hein Gerick are doing their special oil offer now. 4 litres of own brand semi (which I've been told is repackaged motul) and a free filter for £20.

Rich.
