Undertray assistance

Post by steveb »

Hi all,

I recently bought an undertray 2nd hand but didn't get the trimmed original tray with it. Which has left me with a couple of Q's as I can't find a link / tread on here;

1. Does anyone have any fitting intructions for a pyramid type undertray (I think they are all the same anyway) especially which bits to trim on the original one.

2. Does anyone have an original undertray they could sell me as I think I may have over butchered mine!! May have to mend with super glue!

Many thanks

Steve

i had to hack loads off my undertray to get the pyramid one to fit, took it right back to the box shaped bit that the tool roll sits in, had to take the lower back corners off this to, to allow the undertray to sit up high enough for the lock surround to line up.
i'll see if i've still got instructions somewhere, it was a couple of years ago i did it so not hopefull.
you tried the website?.

I have one to fit mate - as far as I can see - it's mostly about carving the factory one back till the new one sits ok. I'm gonna use Trim Tape to hold it to the subframe, 2 small self tappers at thhe front, and the Honda trim clips...

I'll get some progress shots as I do it....

Bugger................I cut my battery box off and refitted that. Then I realised the seat release hole was a different size so I hacksawed the back section off my original one and then got called in for dinner by my good lady wife...............................then thought I'd post on here............

Looked on pyramid website........nothing, and they wont sell me any instructions either. Emailed a couple of sellers of said item on ebay..... no response.

If someone could take a couple of photos and email them to me that could be helpfull, pm me for my email address.

Cheers Steve

Why couldn't I find that when I looked originally, but I looked on here and not on the site!!! Cheers Chris (again)

Nevermind, all is not lost then, I should be able to superglue a section back on and it'll be sorted.

Thanks Steve

All sorted today, thanks to the email from Chris (Sirch345). Turns out I hadn't over butchered the tray, in fact I'd under butchered it :!: :!: :!:

Took it for an MOT and test ride since doing CCT's and first proper run this year all in one go.............passed MOT, engine runs great and I was grinning from ear to ear, I love V-twins :D

Halfway through fitting mine today - butchery is the term!

I chopped, chopped some more - then chopped even more..... :wtf:

It's worth it though - just bolting stuff back on and it looks great! Managed to site the indicators out of the way of the pipes too, much better....

Gonna stick the hugger on while it's in bits, then the FireBlade M/Cyl and RC51 Throttle tube.....

Loomies for the Test Ride Sunday morning if anyone's about...

Clicky - Yum!
