hello, just a quick question. Had a quick look through the knowledgebase and search etc didnt get much ..
Where do you attach the tubes for a carb balancer on the storm ? and what are the tubes for that are tied together in between the carbs, one from each carb just tied and not connected to anything. They sit just under the airbox between the carbs through the fram that connects them .. ?
Cheers
George

Canny help regardin your 'storm Geordie ,but i hope the vacuum take-off points are easier to get to on the Firestorm than they were on my Bandit 1200.
The job took me around 2 hours ,but the actual balancing only around 10 mins ,had to use 12" long nosed foreceps to reach to, and pull the blanking caps off ,even then fookn nightmare .
The good thing was they were well out of sync.

Take the right hand fairing off,try and spot the inlet manifold for the front cylinder, just above the expansion tank,on this there will be a blanking screw, this is your take off point for the front pot.The rear pot is a git to get at,i usually take the vacuum tube off the fuel tap, skinny tube about 6mm thick, connect your vak to this, use the bent allen key thingy in your tool kit to jack the back of the tank up.You have to be quick to adjust it mind,it soon runs out of fuel, but if it does just connect the vak tube again, and pull some fresh fuel in,then quick with your adjustment. It is a an absolute nightmare trying to get at the rear take off point, this i find is an easy way of doing it.Adjustment is via a linkage under the tank on the left hand side, tight and limited again, possibly use a small flat bladed screwdriver,i have pushed a piece of rubber tube onto the screw, this works a treat.Hope that helps.

Oh,by the way the tubes are breather tubes for the carbs, take the rubber band off them, and let them hang down, stops the bike cutting out when you slam upto a junction.

I found that if you turn the tank backwards and rest it on a towel or some such padding the pipes just about reach (cross over the main fuel lines, left to right and vice-versa), and you can run the engine as long as you want.
Don't let it slip off, though!

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Cheers guys
Yeah I knew it was probably going to be a pain in the ass .. If i could connect something permanently while i have the tank off i could make adjust ment more do-able more often .. is there some sort of screw in connector that could remain in there with a wee hose connected and run to the edge of the engine somewhere .. sure i saw pictures of this somewhere .. any pictures of the take-off points ?
Don't know about anybody else but im always a bit mystified as to why the manufacturers dont make these things a bit easier with a bit of design fore-sight .. ! Probably so you have to take it to the dealer and get relieved of valuable beer tokens .. bas
