Opinions on SP2 undertrays

Post by Beamish »

Due to unforseen circumstances (melted undertray due to hotwired screwdriver) what do you reckon to the options for replacement. I really wanted original but looking at some of the trays they may well enhance that odd back light

As you can see most are similar but try to imaging it in Black on this colour of bike

If you could remove those crap indicators from the black one, it might look a bit better. (and use the standard indys)
Thats exactly what i thought the flush teardrop indicators look pap! I dont really lust after any of them but if the standard indicators/plate could be married with the flush rear lights that may work.

I tend to agree with FSM. I do think some after market undertrays tidy the bsck end up. Others look pants and cheap...

I'd keep it as original as pos tbh. But, the choice is yours! :D

I have to replace the original due to melting damage so I might as well try and modernise the rear light. If it looks shite I will get a standard breakers undertray and replace the std bits. Just wondered if anyone had some photos of a good looking post mod SP2/SP1. I am feeling the love for the flush fit rear lights but hate the indicator mod.

I'm really on the fence with this one.
The under trays look good until you have to put a license plate on. Then the plate looks like it's either too large (if it's legal) or it's just an after thought and still looks crap.
If I went under tray I think I would have to risk a small plate and of course then risk getting pulled. Almost all the under trays look like they're made out of cheep weak plastic too :confused ....nah! don't think i'd do it unless it was for a track bike.

I got a second hand original undertray and indicators for mine and intend on putting it back to original when I get a free weekend.
The aftermarket undertrays all look nice and minimal and if you get a good match with decent indicators fair enough, but then you have to stick on the "SAIL" of a number plate and it negates the whole effect.
Also, after a myopic car driver nearly ran up my Ar-e a couple of years ago, when I was waiting to turn right (He passed me with 2 wheels on the grass verge 8O 8O 8O ).The fashion for small indicators went down in my list.

Cheers
