Viper Can question (Baffels)

Post by Styler4077 »

Picked up some round carbon straight though exhausts
Picture below

For some track days and some road use I wanted to be able to quiet them down.
I have found two options and need some help
http://www.motorbikepartsdirect.co.uk/p ... e-kit/576/ £9.98
or these
http://www.motorbikepartsdirect.co.uk/p ... iller/640/ £29.98
Any one used either?
I'm confused as to the big price difference and what effect they would have.

Any help appreciated.

I have the same dilemma, but all I can find the main difference is the cheaper ones you would have to fit a screw from the top to hold the baffle in, and the DB killers fit right inside and you will have the fixing hole in the bottom for fixing.

looked at same items for mine - didn't like the look of the first ones as they look crap with the bit sticking out.
the other (dearer) one is angled to fit the 48mm bend on the end of the can and will look a lot neater.
you can get them for 24 on fleabay.

also was bothered about the power drop with baffles - atm it redlines a lot easier in every gear whereas with standard cans i had to push it a bit.
no point fitting your open cans, filter and jet kit then restricting the pipes too much eh.

found some other ones on ebay that have the same 48mm angled end, for a tenner each.
i'll post a link to them after.

mailed the seller and he said for the carbon vipers just order the standard 48mm ones he does.
he quotes a lower power drop than other db killers and 8+db reduction in noise.

£10?
That'll do.
You're only gonna fit them for the MOT and the sound check at track days, surely?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Brought a pair from the ebay link above.
Quality a bit off if I'm honest, welding is as good as mine :D tacks all over the place.
Back disk welded on the sqiff, but they will in the exhaust.
So now to drill the stainless steel outer part of the can to fit the screw through, that should be fun 8O 8O

Will report back next week. Will take a sound reading with my std cans on plus a film clip and then do the same with the cans empty and with the baffels fitted. 3 reading and three video clips.
Do the track day guys test at 30% or 50% RPM? Thought it was 50%

Will dyno later when I get time. I have the bike in this spec on the dyno computer so I have a start point.

on my old kwak i had a piper 4-1 straight through pipe and just bashed a 1/2" drive socket in the end.
sounded ace tbh, like a whistle.
sounded like a dump valve on over run

on a motorway run yesterday i had to pull over and put earplugs in lol, was deafening. same cans as yours i think.
