Due to a mishap last Tuesday over-tightening (d'oh!) my caliper on the rear bracket and waiting for a replacement to arrive, today I launched into tidying up my front forks after 10 years of winter riding. Thursday managed between showers to install a new chain & sprocket - rivetted the chain off the bike and simply dropped the footpegs to fit it - much easier IMHO

Nitromors and cling film to soak for 30 minutes.
Wirebrush, wash and sand off old paint and oxidisation. Dry thoroughly and wash down with white spirit. Hang on washing line to dry once again.
After a coffee and choccie break masked up and holes plugged with blu-tac
I managed to get a coat of hammerite metal primer sprayed on but forgot to get a pic before packing up - Next time I'll lay a few coats of black undercoat on before a gun metal finish and laquering.

Funny how everyone else's storm is perfect isnt it? Even when they spend most of their time in bits in some cases. Yours is ridden.

mines not in bits, nor in perfect condition either, gets ridden regularly (though not as often as other people on here, but due to the fact I have the choice of four vehicles, and how many passengers dictates what I will be riding / driving).
Looking good, I'm thinking of spraying mine myself. How long did you leave the primer to cure for before spraying with Hammerite (I'll be using that for my swingarm too)?
