which basically means cosmetic and structural damage, repairable but will need inspecting before it goes back on the road.
main thing he was concerned about was the misalignment of the front forks and tees, the rear subframe (which looks like it was twisted down to the left when the link pipe & can took a knock), but mainly, what i hadn't noticed, the lock stops on the frame and bottom yoke are bust.
the yoke stop looks fine imo as it's cast steel but the alloy frame stop has moved back about 1/8" and has a crack around it.
new frame unfortunately so i best get back on ebay lol - saw a good one with v5 for £74.
insurance guy did say however that as the frame damage is very superficial, he won't note it on the report but write it off on cosmetics and the subframe, which are all replaceable items, otherwise it would be a cat B write off and would need re-registering before using on the road again (pain)
jolly decent of him i thought - he is a biker himself, rides a zx10 but arrived on a piaggio 250 scooter in full racing leathers lol!
upshot is i will get full price back for the bike, approx 2700 by the book, and i have a lot of work to do if i want to keep it.
they do not want to take the scrap so unfortunately i am left stuck with the bike & a few grand to spend on it

spoke to the solicitor (from sorrymate) and they said liability is not being disputed, according to the assessor he has personally dealt with 1/2 dozen bike claims against the same council since new year!
anyway, now he's been and gone i can crack on stripping it down.
first job is get the plastics off ready for repaint and see if i can realign the forks.
before i invest in a frame i want to straighten it out best i can and have a m8 take it down the road see how it handles.
maybe a problem re-insuring it once it's on the register, and resale value is gone, so may just be used for a track bike yet.
already got the following parts (or coming):
front forks, subframe, gearchage assembly, left fairing and inner fillers, screen, mirrors, indicators, bar ends, clocks, mudguard, timing casing and plugs, tail piece, rear left hanger and peg, new levers, decal set and paint.
still bidding on a new tank and might as well get the frame as well then i can get it powder coated ready to go.
the cans are ok but a bit scuffed (left bracket) - just could do with a left link pipe but might see if it will buff up seeing as it's stainless?
oh, AND.... also got some ape ccts and a dynojet stage 1 kit coming from a m8 in the usa, and a k&n filter off the bay.
wanted the 144/04 bmc race filter but theyre like rocking horse apples atm!
i got the cct set for £62 and the dynojet kit for £40 (from jc motors.com) - saved a fortune having them mailed privately and not using fed ex, the postage for both items was $8 rather than their standard (shocking) $52 for the 2 items.
