Been offered a swap for my storm a newer 2001 Cagiva Raptor with low miles, now this bike has the upright riding position that i need and i know it has the sv 650 engine but other than that i'm struggling...
anyone know these bikes, is there any faults i should be looking for etc....
cheers
Darren

Re: Cagiva Raptor?????????
bit ugly but sposed to be a wicked handling bike.
has it got a ducati engine or a suzi sv650???
have a look at mcn site for back issue road tests - the did a good article on the raptor a while ago.
there's a site called raptors&rockets or summat, but expect it to be a bit biased.

why does he want rid?? too slow??
why not just put a set of vfr bars on your storm? made a big improvement for me on mine - is the same riding position as my cbx750 now, if i sit back i can still get down low but it's a lot more upright than before = no wrist & neck ache + i can see through my visor now without craning my neck upwards.
another alternative is the 'comfort kit' with billet yokes and sports bike bars.
you have to trim the fairing a little but not much - have a look at my intro thread and you will see how much i cut off mine.
*seems the raptor 650 does use a suzuki sv650 motor -

Build quality is poor and the SV650 is cheaper.
Using Suzuki’s SV motor, it comes as no surprise that the 650I.E is pretty bloody good. The chassis shares similarities too, but where the Suzuki uses budget parts, the Cagiva boasts inverted forks and Brembo brakes.
It might sound like a tastier proposition than the Suzuki but be warned – the build quality isn’t on a par with the Japanese machine and will need plenty of TLC to keep it looking mint

Silly question- but is it the 650 Raptor you've been offered? Or the 1000?Rollingthunder wrote: it has the sv 650 engine but other than that i'm struggling

Re: Cagiva Raptor?????????
re the riding position, i tried vfr bars but the difference wasnt enough, i'm 6'2 and have a disc problem with my back, don't get me wrong i'm gonna miss the bike it's the dogs danglies but the fuel costs and dodgy riding position don't make for a good commute.....
Re: Cagiva Raptor?????????
650 it is then
I know more about the 1000 motor thats all-used to have a TL.
Saying that, the 650 engine is bombproof. A mate of mine has a SV and loves it-looks a bit of a plank on it as he's 6ft 7"
As regards the Cagiva-only one I've owned was a Supercity 125.
Only thing I'd say is check overall condition and if it's owt like anything else italian the electrics and spare parts back up
