I've find a ignition control unit for the Firestorm... but in the list of the Inductive!
You can look at:
SPARKER HONDA TCI - tunable inductive ignition for Honda motorbikes made in the 90s.
If you download the program (it's very light..) you can look about the programmable timing advance, and in the "model" list exist the VTR1000...
I'm very interested, because I've fired my original ICM, but want to be sure to chose the correct type... and it's very interesting a programmable unit!

I don't know... I've just send an e-mail... I've to change my fired ICM, and a tunable unit it's very interesting...

My Power Commander is programable too but it needs a working CDI unit to work with. i hope this one is not the same. You'll have to fill us in when they come back to you with an answer.

We were talking this through at the Workshop day on Saturday and came to the conclusion that it's a "wasted spark" type, because otherwise it wouldn't run with the valve timing 180 degrees out because the trigger is on the crankshaft.
Maybe cutting out the unused spark would give a better charge to the capacitor?
I have a -4 degree ignition advancer fitted (against some advice, I should say, but I like the effects) but would love to have a handlebar-mounted adjuster to play with, operating a programmable unit.
(mind you, I also want adjustable intake trumpets as well)

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

At least I added some thing to the days event with my suggestion of a wasted spark.
Interesting thought about a handle bar ignition dial. I think that would work..

Why not?
A lot of old bikes had a spark adjuster/retarder on the handlebars to get more torque when at lower engine speeds.
But I'm also considering a control for (say) three steps on inlet trumpets in the airbox.
It'd be too complicated to have a fully-automatic version like KTM RC*'s, the new R1 or some Ducatis, controlled via the ECU/TPS, but a cable-operated three-position set-up shouldn't be too difficult.
Maybe on a LH side twistgrip, something modified from a scooter gearchange selector might do it, if they'll fit the bars.
Or a stepper motor-style setup, like the three above?
Maybe it could be controlled via the TPS, what do you think?
(Or I could stop farting around and just buy an SP1!).

Stop farting about and get an SP! - i already have the programmable ignition in development (but low priority) but not sure if adjustable trumpets would be noticable on the storm unless your on the race track?

Phil, I hav'nt understand so good, but I have to change my ICM and think that's a good opportunity... it's cheaper, tunable, and my bike it's a "special" only for track...
Next week I want to decide... I'm waiting that Roger Ditchfield return from Scotland, and then (whit his advice) i want order...
Exist another unit type... the TCIP4, the timing advange it's tunable each in relation of the TPS position(like the original, but the original is'nt tunable...), so I've to decide.

However dont use the TCI system (TCIP4) you need the CDI system as used currently on your bike, both your ICM and Convertor units will be replaced by one unit. The reason you see the VTR listed in the TCIP4 software is because the 2 units use the same program to configure it.
