It looks fine to me but unsure of what you mean by "too much for the battery"

Re: Question
I think he means charging and running the sat nav Phil, and without posting his sat nav specs we'll never know. The wiring will be up for it, and it has a fuse, so the ciggy lighter will work safely, I'd like a plug and socket added so you can disconnect it easy if it rains or you are not using it. Other than that, looks fine to me.Phil-VTwin wrote:It looks fine to me but unsure of what you mean by "too much for the battery"
The real question should have been "Is the alternator up to it?"

Re: Question
Can't speak for the Storm, but have one of those mounted on my Suzuki GSX1400 and it's no problem at all, can't see why it should be a problem on the Storm.
I've also got a TT Rider V2 mounted - but don't run that directly off the battery, instead I have wired it through a relay and it works fine, comes on when ignition is switched on. If you want the wiring diagram pm me your email address, cos I haven't worked out how to upload pictures or attachments on this site yet, which is quite frustrating

Re: Question
email with diagram attached sent back to you.
Also if you have a TT Rider V2 - this item on eBay may be of interest item: 140328914484
basically its a 12v lead for charging the Cardo TT Headset (and its the proper cardo lead as well) so if you have installed a ciggie lighter, you can recharge the headset when you arrive at your destination (if doing long distance) as TT advise that headset only has battery life of approx 3-4 hours....hmm.....hardly enough for a days riding, whne the TT is being charged via the bike all the time. So what i do when i stop for lunch on a days ride is detach headset from helmet, plug in and attach to underseat ciggie socket, go for lunch - on return - all nicely recharged, thank you!
Hope that helps. Unless you have a garmin Zumo in which case, apologies!

Basically i'm shite with directions hence i'm looking at purchasing a Nav...however the distances i'm looking at travelling is far more than the battery life on a nav.....so.....i require a power source to power my nav while riding and i'm assuming from your reply the i would need to let you know what Nav i'm looking at?

Re: Question
both tomtoms i have both have 1Amp fuses in the car adapter so they won't put much drain on your electrics.
3-4hrs battery life my foot lol - maybe when theyre new, but after a while, like a year or so, you'll be lucky to get 20 mins out of a charge!
waterproof ciggie lighters are a only few quid on ebay
probably cos the inventor didnt realise cige go out when they get wet

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Re: Question
I see, no problem
I would also say that it would be fine for a Sat-Nav but like any accessories dont leave it connected for too long when the engine is not running.
