VTR running rough after APE CCT install

Post by slabm7 »

Hi guys, I'm hoping to get some advice. Here is my situation.

I changed out my CCT's yesterday, got every thing back together and it runs like it has no power, when I rev it up and try to hold rpms at say 5000 it will slowly lose revs. I am 99.99 percent sure that the cam chain did not skip so I don't think it is the timing. I did the back one first and zip tied the chain to the sprockets then rotated the engine 450 degrees counterclockwise and did the front one. There was no clicks or sounds when I pulled either CCT.

I have since loosened off both CCTs thinking they were to tight but that didn't fix anything. Also I never took the tank right off, I just unhooked the rear cylinder fuel line and flipped it upside down and put it on a chair. The only fuel line I unhooked was the one fuel line so the petcock is hooked up correctly. Would the petcock being upside down for 6 hours affect the fuel delivery? Anyone have any advice or direction to go. Thanks

Just a thought if it was definitely running right before CCT change. If your bike is the earlier version did you turn off the pet-rock :?: If so are you sure you turned it fully back on :?: before re-fitting the tank.

Sorry for the false alarm but I think it fixed itself. I reassembled it tonight and let it idle outside for 20 min then revved it up a few times and everything seems to be normal. Now I have to replace the air filter and plugs and ride like I stole it! Thanks guys!
