Re: for ten points...
On what type of plug? Platinum or Iridium?
Hint - the platinium plug gap feeler guage is on the outside of your tool roll
(It should be between 0.8 and 0.9mm)
Edit - to early in the morning for me and have been working on old cars recently - dont use a feeler guage with either of these plugs, use a 1mm wire guage and if it passes between them the gap is too big!

Re: for ten points...
they're iridium plugs, my tool kit is very much incomplete so I was going to use a feeler guage...
so why not use a feeler guage?

25 thou / 0.7mm depending on what feeler gauge you have (the feeler gap gauge on the tool roll is 0.7 - oh but you don't have that)

Re: for ten points...
just another useless piece of information, from my 2 stroke days, fag packet cardboard is 12 thou.
double it up and youve got your 24 - and it won't scratch the tips ;)

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

A flat feeler guage will damage the the coating on the tip of the electrode. If the wire guage passes between them replace the plug, Iridium & platinium plugs are not adjustable and should not be cleaned like copper core plugs.chojindan wrote:they're iridium plugs, my tool kit is very much incomplete so I was going to use a feeler guage...

Maybe its just me being spoilt, but i was told that adjustin gaps is a bit pointless as it is worn unevenly, this is coming from a man that has been in the trade for more years than i could count lol. I replace them if they round off, i dont check the gaps unless a customer complains of poor running and its normally all down to poor balance and plugs with added blocked air filter.
