fork seals

Post by matt1966 »

see there has been lots of talk about fork seals, I had a pig of a job doing mine yesterday. Is there a knack to getting the allen bolt at the bottom of the leg, had to take mine to workshop and use air wrench to get it out, then the seals were seized in had to burn one of out. Anyway got em done and rides like a dream now. Anyone got any set up tips I am 12 stone and like to ride like I stole it

one wouldnt come out on my other bike so i had to use the woodscrew method - worked no problem...
they can corrode a bit on top of the seal, makes it a bit more tricky eh!

dunno about setting it up tho - start off in the middle i guess and take it from there - or go to a suspension specialist and have them tell you it needs a £300 valve job and new rear shock for 500 plus labour.........
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Set up tips?
Yeah- ride other people's Storms and ask them what they've done, then decide if it feels good for you.

Depends very much on your riding style- do you commute on it?
Ride it in the wet?
Take pilllions?
Do track days?

These and others are questions that will help you decide what you want from the bike.

Lastly, how deep are your pockets?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
