Evenin.
So I rode my new storm to work today. Very good. Stalled a couple of times at tickover, but this seems a feature of the breed. My sp2 did it occasionally. Tyres need sorting think - 11 yr old d204 front and new d207 rear. They seem a touch vague.
Also wondered whether more fruity exhausts are worth it, or suspension tweaks, or a lower fairing....
So - form experience what top 5 things would you upgrade or modify or improve first?
My new storm - what's the first 5 things you'd do?

er, tyres are consumable items and yours have been consumed by father time.
you need to get some new ones before you fall off and hurt your bike.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

rofl.....good advice tho
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Stick new tyres on it. Then forget the mods and spend cash on beer/hookers/drugs/holiday/trackdays
I was a sucker for mods in the past and even ended up doing stuff to the storm (cans/dyno set up/calipers) but TBH wished now I'd have kept the cash and just ridden the fecker

Bikes and Birds. Twins are betters

Couldn't agree more. A bit of cash on suspension, braided hoses, sintered front pads and some fruity exhausts then ride ride ride.Supermofo wrote:Stick new tyres on it. Then forget the mods and spend cash on beer/hookers/drugs/holiday/trackdays![]()

Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Both ends suspension, braided hoses, sintered front pads and some fruity exhausts, (high level of course) jack up the rear, cams, dynojet kit, high compression pistons, gasflowed and ported, USD front end, replacement reg/rec, carbon bodywork, Marchesini wheels, Big CC racing turbo kit then ride, ride, ride.
Oh, and CCT's to manual.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

do a sssarm conversion like me, have a look at my posts to see how much of a small simple ten minute job it is.....LMAO, you won't get any technical advantage though it actually stretches the wheel base by a few inches [good for high speed stability though] but boy does it look the dogs baldrocks and as anyone on here will tell you if they havn't already done it they would love to do it. as i have now completed the mechanical issues and got all the parts machined its all down hill from here.
as for straight forward mods, a new adjustable rear shock is a must as the standard rear is as floppy as a floppy thing doing the flop dance, and its a simple swop job with no real expertise needed. brakes are also a must get some carbon sintered pads fitted and adjust the lever up as much as poss for 2 fingered control [or replace the lever for a titax or similar] which is my next port of call.
paint the thing, or do something different with vinyls, i hate having the same as someone else which is why i'm having a custom yellow mixed and creating a bayliss replica look.
i also noticed the massive difference in rear brake size from the standard storm disk to the vfr800 disk i have now fitted, another weak point on the storm if you happen to go in too quick and cant pull it up, again a good set of pads and some top spec fluid will mean you have a bit better control on the rear for exiting corners as fast as possible.
or forget all that crap and buy a proper bike cam and tank mount and show off to your mates how good you are on the track....! and save the rest of the money for rebuilds when you come off.
enjoy the bike what ever you decide to do, they are a good all rounder in standard trim and once you start to change things you cant stop and thats when it gets expensive.
