i didn't think the storm had a 'flapper' - unless it's on the usa models with the pair system for emmissions???
news to me if it does -
thinking of using the un-used ram-air holes in the front of the fairing with some 2" flexy ally ducting and doing away with the airbox rubber intake bendy thing - what say you????
would definately cram more air in at high knots....
also, on ozfirestorm, saw a thread referring to those metal restrictors in the carb rubbers, saying removing them noticeably increases the useable torque range right into the redline
apparently they aren't there on older storms, but they were on mine - now they occupy a small space on a landfill somewhere

they are a damn fine piece of machinery tbh - very nearly bought an 03 from manchester ducati (when it was manchester ducati...)
then looked at another in wigan yam, before buying the storm.
might well be on the shopping list at some stage, particularly if i decide on any 2up riding.
much prefer it over the big yam & suzi, stylewise and build etc.
might beg a go of it one day lol

It is certainly on the yank ones they go on about it endlessly on the SuperHawk forum, its called the PAIR system.

The PAIR system injects fresh air into the exhaust ports. This helps to burn any unburnt fuel in the exhaust and reduces emissions. There is normally a couple of reed valves on the head near the exhaust ports (SP1s have them for instance).
Flappers are airbox intake valves. They are used (allegedly) to improve low down torque. In reality all they do is close off the airbox at 5000RPM (and strangle the engine) to quieten down the intake noise to help pass the noise tests. Disabling them (by plugging the vacuum tube that goes to the flapper diaphragm stops the valve from closing, and makes the engine a bit stronger in the midrange (after all, cutting off the air flow into the engine is never going to help it, is it?).

This is my current one, yesterday after i gave it a fettle.
This is my old one. Saw it in Helmsley when we were out the other week, he has done some really tasteless mods to it, bloody ruined my baby he has!!!

the old one is same as the one i very nearly bought, got as far as taking it for a spin round the a49 and was very close to leaving a deposit (in my crackers lol)
know what you mean with the nose fairing, used to race a little suzi 125, and ride it on the road!
alder lane (mad mile) between winwick & burtonwood, i used to go up the hill at ton plus, then one day the fairing used to annoy me rattling, so i took it off - could hardly hit 80 on the same road

amazing difference for just a token bit of streamlining.
is that the standard rear shocks on the 13s??? looks very nice indeed, but you obviously spend far too much time cleaning it

It's looking rather mucky at the minute-350 mile trip to/and round Wales and 150 mile a week commute are keeping its legs stretched

There's nowt really to go wrong, and yer bike will thank you.
make sure the chain is well lubed and the back tyre has 42psi in it (dry chains and sticky/under inflated tyres will rob BHP)
