Hi folks my bike is an import, stated on the v5, its says declared new, into the uk by an independent importer , it doesn't say where it came from ie: which country ? or is it just japan ? .
Also how does this effect its value compared to a uk bike ? ( i can make a judgment but wanted your opinions) ..

Iirc the Haynes workshop manual gives reference to what country it will have come from from the frame numbers.
I would say it will be worth a little less than if it was a genuine UK bike. But considering how little money you can pick up a UK bike for now, if it's one of the earlier models I doubt it will be that much.
One thing you must do is make sure you insurance company knows it's an Import

most insurers aren't arsed if you're only third party.
some won't touch imports at all as i found out with my cbx which is a south african import.
can't see what all the fuss is about tbh, not like the parts are different or awt.
best thing about imports is if it's come from japan or usa, chances are it won't be rusty at all, might just want the paintwork tcutting cos of uv.
look at some of the 70s honda cbs on bikeforum - they look mint.
over here theyve already been turned into nissans.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Mine was a German import in 1998 as they were hard to get in the UK then. Still has the German headlight but two bits of tape in the right place at MOT time make sure she passes.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

i think mine might be i was trying last night to work out each letter and number of the vin and two letters are the code for germany i think. mine also had the headlight with tape inside it , but i changed the light for a uk spec one.
