£4 for 50 odd miles hee hee

Post by Anotherbikerbabe »

I know the fuel has gone up, and I've had Dave do my carb balancing, but bloody hell, 50 odd miles on my bike for £4  We went out Fri after work and on way back my fuel light came on and I only had my last £4 in my pocket as didn't take any cards or cash out as garage only 7 mile from home when light came on, so I thought, if I'm going to take the bike to work tomorrow, I'll stick the coins in and fill up next day. So went out and forgot, had a ride out later and light came on,put fuel in after I clocked 50 odd miles on my £4!! Record  ..I now don't fill up until around 120 miles on trip. How do you guys go on fuel? :?:

I am getting more mpg since my carbs were done and I don't know if it is just me, but my bike is BOOMING along and sounds louder..I actually wore my headphones off my iphone today instead of ear plugs! When I was filling up y'day (as had 4 ride outs in 3 days woohoo  and totally enjoyed my days off for a change) there was a guy filling up his transit van and when I started her up, I watched him jump and mime "fooking hell" I must admit, it made me smile...

Pics coming soon as I have been all over the place last 3 days, from Hartside to Penrith-Carlisle  ASDA £117 pe litre!!

Douglas and ride home then last night out again with my mate I'm going to Ullapool with and we d

coastline down to Southerness and along the coast to Dalbeattie over the bridge, up to Palnackie and Kirkcudbright pronounced kircoobree  and home the quick way as getting late and got home 9.15pm.Then out again today up to Lochmaben and hang a left turn along to Templand etc and right the way along to the A701 Moffat road and back down the 701 to Dumfries etc. I've done 300 miles on my days off and totallly enjoyed it.

Yeah as fuel goes, thats pretty good!

With my '98 Storm, I put about £14-£15 in it (full up to lower cap!) and always get over 100 before the light comes on. Funny how running it around town for a year or two , the light came on after about 70 miles. Now I put 300 miles on it each week, the fuel consumption has got SO much better. And i certainly don't stay within Her Magesty's limits!!!

Benny, Up here is a bit strange I find, the folk don't like change, the neighbours moan about my bike and just tonight they were complaining about the noise of my bike and told them if they didn't keep me yakking about it, I'd be out the door by now! FFS :wtf: ..Its a bit like the film "Waking Ned" I'm moving back to the NE by July thank god..When we stopped off there Benny last night for coffee (around 40miles from mine) the pub was dead but for one bloke but you could tell if it had been full, the world would have stopped there and then pml. ...

I know what you mean about the place being yocal locallish  , it's quite a strange place up here but yes, the scenery is good  , roads are good and hardly any plod, ever!

Can't wait to move back home though, and riding over to Newky on Sunday :)

Small world Benny. I went to school in Kirkcudbright, I got married their, and all my wifes family still live there........but I lived in a village 15 miles away, soI am treated as an "outsider".

But worse than that, the wifes little sister is big mates with the above mentioned "bob the builder in aldi jeans", but from what I have heard, your not far from the mark with that description, so I wont mention it.

Dairy shut this year, fishing getting less and less lucrative...........only tourism left, and as you found out the local pubs [and the locals] are a bit "unique".

But the roads are good though

lol had a look on fb and saw ms coulthard, she looks a bit better now mind..... scrolled down a bit and there's her promiscuous m8 lol, small world indeed! :biggrin
might have a ride back up there for a laff

shame about the dairy, don't spose there's much else up there.... was thriving when i worked there, contracting, i did the stainless work and refrigeration for them
sad that, places like that hold communities together and they are fast disappearing....

Benny, a gentleman to the last I see :biggrin , no kiss and tell from you.

if it was a C, then we are safe, no relation!

ABB,
sorry for hijacking your thread, I enjoy reading your reports on your ride outs, as it reminds me of home [and when I was younger]........Did all those roads round Corsock, Castle Douglas, Dalry, Kirkudbright, Dalbeattie on my moped.

ABB, what exactly did Dave do to your carbs, was it a balance or more :?: Whatever it was it's certainly seems to have done the trick :)

Chris.

EDIT
 I see it was a carb balance. Was it only that :?:

I asked Dave and he said yes, only balancing etc but it has made a difference in as much as the light doesn't come on before around 110 and before it would hit 90ish. It definately sounds louder too. I just had the usual changes made plugs/discs/pads/carbs balanced etc. The petrol at Asda is now only £1.15!! I read in the daily mail today it cut fuel by another 2p per litre and last week it was £1.17.i'm filling up at Carlise Sunday on way over to NE.. I'm not too sure though how far you guys get on reserve?

God its really twisty, so don't know how you managed on your moped! 8O lol.. It is nice, but then I hanker after the NE and all the roads round Northumberland/Barnard Castle/Alston etc which are just as good. This route is one I've done many times is fanstic and spent a whole day out riding with the Durham police, who reliably informed me there are no cameras in Durham as the Chief super doesn't like them!

ABB, amazing, cheers for the info

I've not tested how far I can get on reserve yet, although I think I've come pretty close to running on just petrol fumes more than once
