Correct clearances (when cold) are .28-.34mm, so aim at the mid-point.
As the engine gets hot, the clearances will tighten.
If the clearances reach zero, the valves can't fully close, and hot exhaust gases will start to burn the seat away.
The engine then gets hotter.
That'll accelerate the burning process, leading to pocketed valves.
Also the buckets will run constantly against the cam surfaces; normally there is no contact during the base circle phase of the cam.
More wear, I'm afraid.
All of that, most certainly, will affect power outputs.
Lastly the hot burning gasses will continue to burn in the exhaust pipe, leading to blueing of the downpipes, and possible silencer damage.
Cosmetic, but not recommended, really.
While you were in there measuring, why not just re-shim?
Only another 10 minutes work.
Or are you just looking at the rear (easy to get at) cylinder?
