disc rotor close to fork leg

Post by wheeliekidnot »

hello all, hope you enjoying your bank holiday.just a quicky
i was putting some rim tape on my wheels, and noticed when doing the front, how close the right disc rotor(looking at the bike)
was to the fork leg.ie 1 mm ish is this right, seems very close.disc not warped, wheel spins freely on paddock stand for about 1/1.5 turns before the pad drag stops it.apart from that v v happy with my new (to me) storm such a fun bike.wish id changed years ago.

without looking i think they are close, if yer take the wheel out and put the spacers on wrong wayround, they will touch, so would say this is normal, sure someone else will jump in and confirm :) Oh and welcome :biggrin

Edit, been out cleaning mine just now, and there is a bigger gap 8O

Just went and had a quick look at mine ,the gap looks around 3mm on both sides ,between disc and fork legs.

Doesn't seem correct.

Is the tyre spaced the same distance from both legs?

And when you look from behind the calipers, are both discs central in the caliper?

Are the wheels in line? (use string or a plank to check).

Lastly, check each caliper mount- has one side got washers between the fork leg and caliper body? (might have been done to set the clearance if a non-standard disc is fitted).

Something not quite right here...... :wtf:
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
