Front brake pads??

Post by vtrick »

Just looking for a little input. Its time for me to change my front brake pads, and i'm looking for some input, as to which type to use. I'm looking for something with a little more bite, over the stalkies, but i don't want to warp my rotors. I do alot twisty back road riding, and the occasional track day. What would you guys suggest as a better replacement over the stalk pads...

THanks Jeff

I have no hesitation in saying BENDIX

I've had EBC HH's which were good on the road with lots of initial bite
BUT
On the track they faded quite a bit especially under heavy braking so you had to keep pulling and pulling on the lever

Also tried Carbone Lorraine SBK3's which were BRILLIANT on the track coz they bite a lot more as they got hotter so in heavy braking you end up letting them off to keep the same level of deceleration.
BUT
On the road they are frankly a bit cr@p coz the initial bite (unless they're good and hot) is rubbish. Had a few oh sh1t I'm not gonna stop moments heaving with all 4 fingers

The Bendix are in the middle ground, the initial bite is really good (howling the front tyre with one finger) and as they get hot they are very similar to the SBK3's

There are 2 others I've yet to try that I've heard good reports about
1. Carbone Lorraine A3's - more road orientated so better initial bite
2. SBS (Scandinavian brake systems)

Hope this has been of some help

Pads

Post by ktd001 »

Not done any track days but for the road the EBCs do the job nicely. Made the mistake of not telling the dealer what I wanted before and they fitted stock honda pads. They squeaked for 1500 miles and were as effective as imperial Leather! Also, putting the braided hoses on made a HUGE difference!
I ride way too fast to worry about cholesterol.

Fitted EBC HH pads today.
I did 15 miles on the way home, what a difference over the 3/4 worn OE pads.
And all this was noticed before they are bedded in properly
