Bike is stalling , power cuts out then a huge backfire
I have a 2000 SuperHawk 996 , I have had no trouble with it at all until the end of last summer. I was on the Highway, pulled a wheelie, to my surprise the power cut out completely then the bike let out an insane backfire, like a cannon , im talking , then when the tire hit the ground, the power came back on, i almost went over the handle bars, it progressively got worse and worse. My local dealer replaced the plugs, cleaned out the carb , had it jetted, this summer it has been hell, if it will start up, it runs like sh1t, it stalls, same power problems with cannon backfires, and after i shut it off it wont start up again for a couple days if at all , but turns over fine and sounds like it wants to go. The only thing i can think of is water in the tank, water in the electical box, "an elecrical malfunction", im at a loss, and im running out of options and money, has anyone heard of this or had this trouble, or have a possible diagnosis, or guess , ANYTHING < im desperate!!

Jason, very similar thing happening to me at the moment, check out my post in "Workshop", think I called it something like "Bang Stall Stop".. Mine started slowly then got worse too. Savage backfires, then stalling, then nothing. Keep and eye on the posts in "Workshop" for replies.

Check the vakuum hose to your fuel tap.
If that´s not the problem:
Check your needle jet, your main jet, your main jet holder for something that shouldn´t be there.
Also check your fuel lines to the carbs, the white things that float in the float chambers (what the heck are they called?) make sure that they can swivel nicely. Check the needle valve. And finally, check the fuel lines that takes care of excess fuel in the carbs. (the ones that run into the space in between the two carbs)
Good luck.
