Hi everyone. I've just bought some secondhand Micron carbon cans for my Firestorm, but they're not in perfect condition. There's a small split on the inside of one of the cans, I'd guess the donor bike had been gently dropped and the can squashed against the swinging arm. The actual carbon fibre appears OK, and the damage is actually to the resin that holds it all together. Can I repair it? I really just want to stop it getting any worse. The bulk of the damage is, as I say, to the side of the can next to the swinging arm, so the repair would be out of sight. There's a tiny bit of similar damage to the outside, but this could probably be left, unless the repair would be really neat. I was thinking perhaps Araldite resin? Can anybody help me???
Cheers.

I have never tried repairing carbon fibre, but I have looked at this site before http://carbonmods.co.uk/Departments/Fab ... plies.aspx

Re: Can I repair a carbon can?
you can get new carbon sleeves for it and packing etc.
i need to do my vipers when i cba, just need to get them on the saw and make some carbon stubbies - should be mmmegaLOUD lol
in the dodgy dealers section i put a link up to a site that sells exhaust parts cheap -= someone (soz cant remember who_) replied with a better site - go shopping.
new sleeves, new rivet straps on the ends, job done.
you can get oval, oval egg, straights, round etc and even change the carbon for other sleeves if you want - titanium or ss or ally, whatever you like.
i need a 48mm left link pipe if anyone has a spare - to fit a carbon viper but i have flaring gear if it's not bob on...

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
Re: Can I repair a carbon can?
Might be able to help you out with that.
It's a low level one with the flat mounting plate that bolts onto the footpeg mounting bracket bolt.
No scratches or dents, measured the can end at 49mm ID, that should close up ok.
Engine end fits the standard downpipes with a Honda compressible gasket.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

combien de £?
mine is totally flat where it hit the deck and bent beyond repair. (just the left one)
really fancy trying some carbon stubbies - could probably make 2 sets tbh if i cut them in half!
got some spare baffles if theyre too loud.
just reckon they'd look cool against the black & white

Re: Can I repair a carbon can?
i made some carbon stubbys out of some micron cans, not too difficult to do and the noise is riduculous! i tend to swop them with the high level remus carbons from time to time just to wake the neighbours up!
