Main beam

Post by bogof »

Every time I put main beam on, it pops the 20amp fuse.

The bulb currently fitted is standard, but it used to have a 100/120 watt. The problem has existed since that bulb blew.

Any ideas where I should start looking for a short (assuming it is a short causing the fuse to pop)?

If you didnt fit a relay with the 100/120w bulb, chances are that something has melted.

Start looking at the 3 way connector that plugs into the bulb and work backwards.

first port of call i'd say is the lh switchgear.
chances are you burnt the switch contacts - they're tiny!
there is a relay tho - it might've gone.
or as phil suggests - possibly the wiring on the back of the h4 socket
it couldve got hot and melted the placcy off, then touched the frame or fairing bracket.

if it has then it will probably be messy - lots of snipping to do.
http://www.easternbeaver.com single beam h4 relay kit with ceramic socket - that's what i fitted.
plug n play, no more burnt wires or switchgear
