Hi all
New to Firestorm ownership, only had a few weeks.
Bike has nearly 7k, 2005 model. DNA air filter and remus grand prix pipes.
Bike has been running rough around 3-4.5k, which feels like the surge I used to get on my BMW R1100s years ago.
I have been gradually getting it better and getting used to riding around it, which is hard going commuting to/from work.
Remus cans that came as extra made it a bit better, as did draining carbs.
Anyway...the prob. decided to clean air filter, which is like a K&N. Filter, out, brushed, washed, dried (naturally) and re-olied. bike back together last night.....this morning will start but wont idle & misfiring.
held throttle open a bit to let it warm up, got up to temp, but still struggling to idle.
got all way to fan coming on and managed to take around block, struggles to 20-30mph, and misfires under any load (up hill).
fuel tank is pretty full and did have tank tilted up whilst getting to air filter box.
Im wondering what I've disturbed.
Thinking :
fuel lines? trapped
air filter oil in carbs?
fouled plugs?
fuel pump relay (does it have a pump or relay)
muck from tank got to carbs (with tipping tank up) drain carbs.
may just not like the clean air filter
only happened this morning, so had to leave and get bus to work. not good
Any help gratefully appreciated....
Kieron

Vaccum hose has came off the back of the fuel tap. £10 to me if I'm right.

£10 to me, i bet you put it on the drain pipe facing straight down instead of the one on the back nearest the seat front

Dont ask me how i know, i did the same other week, had same exact symptoms

Didnt disconnect anything....just had it fully tipped up on the pivot at the back.
Hopefully is hose......everyting crossed.

If hose is connected on the 9 o'clock position, then you've over-oiled the filter.
Try it with the filter out just to see.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

either that or you've kinked the single supply pipe before the tee.
if it's a 2005 it doesn't have a tap, just a valve with a 10mm id hose, teed off to each carb (if it's like mine)
i've done the same myself and the bike died on it's stand while it was idling - it was the pipe trapped between the tank & rear cam cover.
bet you a
that's the problem - lift the tank again and make sure the pipe is routed clear of any bits that might crimp it flat.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Sorted!!! Lifted tank and put back and everythings better than it was before I started messing. Thanks all for yr help. This won't be the last question if I'm gonna live with the storm. Clean filter has made bike rideable. Never had a bike with a filter so full of crap, Especially at such low miles. Must have lived on a sand dune. Now to get carbs balanced up or just hey a dynojet kit fitted. Anyone used Jordan bikes outside Leeds for dynojetting??
