Speedometer probs
I have tried to find a solution on this site but cannot so here is my post........My speedo periodically works although has not in the last 200 miles of riding. Can anyone give me tips on where to look for any solutions. it isnt clocking up the miles which is the only good part.

Re: Speedometer probs
first thing to check is the connections on the back of the speedo - you'll need to remove the instrument pod and check the crappy ring terminals on the back of the clocks - theyre susceptible to duffness.
then the pcb inside the speedo - could be dry solder joints, loose terminal block...
then the speedo sensor, behind the rear cyl.
if it's that, theres no real way to test it afaik, apart from replace it for about £112.
ask phil vtwin - he's the speedo wizard!

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Thanks for that, how the hell do you get the bolt (inside one) to release the sensor, can get the spanner on but no room to turn the bleeder, and I gave up on the speedo panel just couldnt get to the left bottom nut, (need a long extension which I dont have) My tool kit consists of mole grips and a rubber mallet.

Re: Speedometer probs
please dont use molegrips for this job, that is completely wrong!!!
it is an electrical problem, so the rubber mallet should be the tool of choice

36" stilsons should shift it.
if they dont get the sensor out they will bend the bike so it's easier to get at

+1.
Being rubber, it's insulated, so you don't even need to disconnect the battery 1st.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Speedometer probs
