They lose magnatism when sat in a certain posistion i beleive.. as i did my valve clearances the bike sat for 3 weeks so mine decided it doesnt want to play.
CBR600f's use a similair sensor, will it work or is it different?

Re: speed sensor URGENT
i think some hornets have the same clock cluster as the storm but with a different scale on the tacho - im sure i saw some on ebay listed as for the vtr or hornet...
dont quote me on that lol but i cant see honda making a sensor just for the storm?
what's up with yours btw???
is there not some way of measuring the pulses from it - before you bin it?

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Re: speed sensor URGENT
Indeed there is, at the speed sensor connector there should be 12V, 5V and 0V, the 12v is battery voltage, the 5V is supplied by the speedo and 0v is GND.
As the tooth on the gear passes the end of the sensor the 5V collapes and then energises again producing a pulse that the speedo reads.
The service manual explains how to test.

Mine just reads 5.6v all the time, is doenst flux so its failed, my clocks are fine, and all the tests checked out, sensor has failed.

Who told you that?TUG wrote:They lose magnatism when sat in a certain posistion i beleive..
Can't understand why if it's true no-one's ever mentioned this before.
Is it bike-specific, just for Storms?
Or does this problem affect all bikes?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: speed sensor URGENT
They don't work by permanent magnetism, its a side effect of energising a coil of wire in a metal container, its temporary otherwise we would all be replacing them after the winter layup!
