Supposed to be the cheepest and best mod out.
The only downside is it will put your speedo out cause it runs off the gearbox.
If you do both sprockets can I have a go
Hi, i have tried the 15 front and also the 15 front with the 45 back which was top fun and saves a lot of wear on the front tyre, but have now gone back to just the 15 front as it was a bit much. You will get people that say do the front and not the back and some will say do the back and not the front, i'm no expert ( i will leave that to Del !!) but whatever you do change one or the other because it transforms the bike and as long as you are not a total spead freak you wont miss the top end. As for the speedo going out you can get a device called a speedhealer on ebay that will sort the problem out ( so they say), dodds.
Speedo will be affected if you change front or back'cause as Pete says its driven off the gearbox.
As far as which one to change the stories like this. Changing the front is a lot easier and less time consuming as you don't have to drop the rear wheel etc out.
People say change the rear instead of the front as its less likely to knacker the chain. Chains are designed to rotate around sprockets at a certain diameter and if you make thiss smaller it will shorten the chains life.......something to do with it rotating on the same few sprocket teeth all the time instead of using them all. This doesn't really matter on a Storm though as the way the power is delivered will knacker the chain well before it wears out on a smaller sprocket.
I've got a 15T front on mine and it's the cheapest and best mod you can do. Only overreads by about 3% on the speedo aswell so no need toworry about going too fast past those speed cameras.
Try B&C Express as they're cheap and do next day delivery for about £15.
Hi thanks dodds , do you remember where on ebay that "healer" can be found? Its not found in a search, don't really want to make the speedo more inaccurate than std, that would be pants. Might get a digi, calibrated one fitted if i can't find a speed healer......
I got knocked down, but i'll get up again and you'll never ever keep me down!
1. Better for the chain
2. Shortens the wheelbase so the bike turns better whereas a 15t front lengthens it
WRT speedo being wrong, it gives you a greater safety margin when going past cameras etc and as thats about the only time you use it its no great shakes
Thanks looks like i`ll try 45 Rear First;then see if i`m brave enough for the 15 on the front as well, Funny what S.Ben say`s though Reckon you`re not turning that right hand quick enough Ben:Hope, I hope those camera`s won`t see my plate with the F Wheel so high

Just ordered a 15 front and a 45 rear - anything i should be aware of?
I do a 44 mile round trip each day and wanted to liven it up a bit!
New rear disc and brakes also as it looks like thats the wheel i'll be stopping?
