Calling all fellow Yellow stormers! Help required..

Thought my bike was yellow, on my V5 states Yellow no mention of the fact it was once Red.That's no problem and I don't mind that at all. My problem now is, the bike is a 98 model but who knows what yr the bloody fairings came off. and Dave has already stripped the bellypan and primed it and put 2 coats of Y124 on to see what it looks like. It is at least 1 shade too light. So guys, can you please tell me what code is under your seat? As I don't fancy buying 6 or so tins of paint at £12.99 per tin to try to find out which one is the right one. My fairings etc are what I'd describe as custard yellow as they are defo darker than the Pearl Shining yellow! I read somewhere that the newer models were lighter but also read a 98 model was 124 and mine is darker. Custard yellow is how it looks to me...Help needed please..

If all esle fails, I'm going to try the bellypan ina deep Red (all dep red codes welcome)as Red & the yellow on my bike go good together and anyway, your bike is personal to you and so whatever you do, folk will either like it or not.My seat has red piping from the R157 colour and goes nice in contrast to the bike. I don't really care for black unless absolutely no choice:-(

So guys and gals, what yellow code do you have please under your yellow storms?! I need to sort it pretty soon though as have Pro XL lacquer on its way and need to do my wheels.

Your yellow may not even be a Honda one, so you could be back at square one if you buy the later model paint!

Take part of the bike into Halfords and get them to mix it to match.

Your yellow may not even be a Honda one, so you could be back at square one if you buy the later model paint! I'd not even thought of that. I think it is a Honda yellow as some of the ones I've seen look to be the same colour. I feel this is going down a different route of colour...Take part of the bike into Halfords and get them to mix it to match. When we first went to Halfords we asked them for their colour chart, only to be told, that store doesn't have one at all, not even for car paints!?! Might have to take a trip to Carlisle Halfords tomorrow

Instead of a change of colour it's more probable that your sub frame's been changed at some time in the past- the sticker's on that, isn't it?

If there's no mention on a registration search then it isn't likely to have had the colour changed, unless it was done before the bike was first registered (or registered in the UK if it's an import).

Who sprayed the wheels?
They'd have had to source paint at some stage......might know the colour code, assuming they're a good match.

I think there are a lot of things here to take into consideration. First of all are you sure your bike was red at some point or have you just noticed one or two panels are red under the yellow. If that's the case may be one or two red panels were sprayed yellow and fitted and your whole bike was never red.

The next thing I would say, if your better half Dave has got that close to the colour of the rest of the bike then I doubt very much he'll get any closer using a rattle can and would have said he is using the right colour paint. No doubt you've read on this site that, that yellow is almost impossible to match exactly. What looks like a good match in one light will look different when the sun goes in.

There are so many things when spraying to take into consideration that effect the final outcome. IE colour of primer originally used on the bike, was the rest of the bike sprayed with a spray gun and not a rattle can, plus age changes the original colour too.

Can only echo what Chris said - my yellow bellypan was redone by Dream Machine twice and whilst it is 97% right in sunlight in artificial lights looks too pale.

If it is a bellypan I'd spray it black IMHO

I got a list off him of last time things were done/changed etc etc from the guy HE bought it off, but he was, how do you politely say....tim but.....

We are taking the mud guard to Halfords either in Carlisle or Ayr as they both much of a muchness in distance. Our Halfords are useless and have no colour charts at all! Thanks Tony.
