Zig Zag home - Advice wanted

I am planing to do this route home from the Operation Storm 2010 meet.

Higham on the Hill to Portsmouth - Google Maps

I'll be leaving from Higham on the Hill and heading home to Portsmouth on Monday 26th July

Please can you take a look at the route and if you have any suggestions for great roads within the vicinity of the planned route back, please let me know.

I might go through Wales and the Cotswolds now so any suggestions that way will be greatly received.
