Iffy Running need help

Hi All

As I mentioned in my intro post I am new to twins and looking for a bit of advice - I have 1998 Firestorm (well duh! )with 35k on the clock - the bike has been fitted with EVO high level cans no other alterations that I know of

Now it starts off the button and idles really well about 1200 rpm no lumpyness there is an ocassional popping from the cans at tick over - the main issue is when I am ridding the bike feels if it is holding back and contrary to what I have been told I am up and down the box like a fiddlers elbow - when the bike is getting to the 70 mark it pulls well but when in traffic (about 30/40) doesnt like top gear - when acelerating up the bike is lumpy and can feel vibrations through the engine

I am going to service the bike when I am doing the CCT's to see if this will make adifference - now before I get the carbs balanced I am looking to seeif any of you good peeps can shed some light on this or have experienced this -

I have had the thought it might be drawing air from somewhere (any obvious VTR issues here )

popping back could be down to bad fit on the link pipes, just in front of the swing arm.
they do burble a lot tho on over-run (all vees)
i think you are just adjusting to the different riding style of the ve2 vs IL4 - a 4 will quite happily purr along high gear, low speed then pull away (shitly) without much fuss.
the storm might protest a bit at 30 in top lol...

warning as well, i nearly dropped mine rolling round a roundabout banked over at 20mph when it coughed at me and stalled no power to pul it back up

try not to lug it in high gear low rpm around town i rarely get out of 2nd tbh - dont be scared to rev it either lol!
wind it on in 2nd & 3rd you'll catch pigeons.... in fact i had to duck for one the other day in prestatyn - almost got a facefull of feathers lol!

if it still won't work proper it must be those cans.... i'll be a good citizen and swap them for a pair of mine see that's the kind of guy i am, charitable to a fault
