my new bike

Post by mattieboy »

hi fokes hope all is well,
picked up my 1st storm at the weekend. once i got her home and started to strip her down i found that the old boy that had her before was a bit of a cowboy!!!! {painted the swinging arm, frame and rest of the parts on the bike with a brush!} sure my 2 year old could of done a better job.

Thinking about polishing the frame and swingin arm up! any one got any ideas.

after some ideas off you guys on what mods to give her and where to start.

all help welcome

Thanks
Matt

Hi there and welcome to the forum,

If your taking the swing arm off then I would suggest looking at all the bearings including the pro link bearings, there is a bar that hangs down and takes alot of abuse from the road. If this corrodes it siezes and snaps the pro link, worth doing for piece of mind. I was going to polish my swing arm, but most of its under a hugger and it has a coating on that required me to take a metal file to, I did not want to take too much meat off a load bearing item.

This year I will take it to pieces and spray it a silver to clean it up and try to make it look a little less agricultural.

Manual CCT conversion for piece of mind, K an N if you can afford it, I have polished my front forks and fitted WP springs and new oil and seals.

Next will be 100w front light conversion, and my Scottoiler will be soon ready for the Operation Storm weekend away next weekend.
