£1800 is a lot of cash dude. But remember that is at garage/mechanic prices. I sure with a little time spent and the help from folks here you would be up and running again in no time.

Eblag is a wonderful source of cheap parts etc and the knowledge and advice from here is second to none.

If I was closer mate Id help ya as Iv still got 4 weeks of holidays to go.

damage to mine was quoted as £3200 and it cost me about 300 in bits, including some stuff i didnt need, like forks & swing arm.
get blagging.
crouton the respray. leave that til winter for sumat to do.
or if you want i'll swap it for my roadworthy cbx

ive had enough of the storm now, not 100% yet what i'm gona do, decent forks are gona cost, and there is a lot wrong that the pictures dont show, the wheel is bent, the forks, the subframe etc

want another proper bike, want to move back out even more, still waiting to be done by the old bill for speeding back in march i think it was if they haven't done me by august then i believe i get off with it as they only have 6 month's to deal with it?

so might wait until august to go the bank and ask for another loan to get another bike because knowing my luck ill get a bike then get a ban before ive ridden it!

yeh will strip and salvage what i can, there are still some trick bits im sure, also have a dynojet kit i never got round to fitting when i put the blue flames on, shame the brand new smoke screen is cracked too. i also have a powerbronze under tray for the rear that was never fitted also, think i may have two race pipes in the shed too, and a spare left fairing, right fairing, front fairing and a spare tank too, the dash was jazzed up too, has blue and red lights looks realy good when it starts to go dark

will keep you guy's posted, hopefully i can follow suite and get my hands on a decent SP2 always loved that machine, fond memories watching Edwards and Slight

The engine is worth upwards of £450.............rads..£200............add a few more things and yer looking at another VTR m8.TL1000's are good but they rot away...mind you an original "R" full power one would be interesting.

similar to this, apart from no stickers and years of abuse. wonder if it will wheelie, then again with a bmx having thicker forks than that best not.

Seb, sorry to read about your latest problems.........I think Timbos reply early on summed it up for me. I wont give advice as situations like this are so unique that only you can decide what is correct for those involved and your concience.

On your new steed..........Yeah, the forks and frame bend real easy................I had a 400 superdream, and a 25mph tip off on gravelly single track ended up with bent forks, bent front wheel, engine moved up and across in frame.......oh and the alternator rotor bent and ripped the stator off the crank cases.

It did slide into the only rock in the verge, but was a hell of a lot of damage considering the speed.

Well I had the custom version a CM250C which looked better than the "wet" dream...but was so slow with 28hp and all the weight, the frame flexes like you would think there is something wrong with it, no brakes in the wet, and real scary back end in the wet...VBOL m8.

Just rode it home, scary to say the least!

suspension is like a rubber band, and power was hard to come by, tried to overtake a car from the lights.....wont be doing that again.

worst of all i filled up at the garage and got laughed at by some juveniles, then exiting the petrol station underestimated how sh1t slow it was at setting off and found my self doing 5mph....7 .... 10.... with a car putting the anchors on.

got it up to 55mph on the A6 that took a while but it was shaky and the noise!! ouch.

strangely enough though I found my self riding along on this spongy braked P.O.S with a smile on my face

Hopefully I can get 4 grand together to get a VTR asap.

I know what you mean, that is why I didnt sell the KH125 that I rebuilt, I was suppsed to sort it out for a mates son to use, but once I had rebuilt it and ridden it, I didnt want some spotty kid trashing it as his day to day transport......at 20yrs old and only 7000 miles, it deserved a more respectfull retirement.

Every time I ride it, it is full throttle, in every gear, everywhere and still only 70mph flat on the tank, but it make me smile even more than riding the VTR............and as I ride it with an open face helmet, I have dead flys on my teeth

My Firestorm was mint, even though it was used every day of the year including through the harsh winter we just had and it still looked a minter after a wash.

Don't think id get another one though, fancy something a bit more ball's, a bit more of a man's bike.

Rode the CB250 home last night was feeling daring so took it down the motorway, got 70+ out of it... then when i was overtaking a truck I hit a hill... that felt like it went on forever... and it dropped down to 55ish that truck I had just taken over took me... it was cat and mouse all the way home after that, quite amusing relay strange how much fun you can have for so little money.

parts look to be dirt cheep even brand new from Dave Silvers! so going to get some rear shocks and a few other bits and bobs, and use the old dog for a while, think ill take the storm apart and see if I can mend it my self on a budget as and when.

Nice one Seb, I just got myself a superdream as a project! Its in my garage awaiting my attention. I think I will go and have a little play with it to see if I can get it running on 2 clyinders today. As you say David Silvers is dead cheap for new parts. I might even give her a new paint job too.
