Cheese Screws

Post by Stratman »

Why do Honda use cheese for parts like the timing cover and now, I have discovered, the float bowl screws?

Eventually got them out with an impact driver and off to the ironmongers for some allen screws. Now just need to locate a replacement choke cable nut which was broken - Honda don't do them separately and the choke kit from David Silvers is £39 - a tad expensive for a plastic connector! If I can find a similarly threaded bolt I'll try drilling it out to make up a replacement.

The locking nut craked on mine .
All I did was pop up B&Q and bought a pack of nuts and replaced it. Is yours the Nut or the bolt bit that's bust?

Couldn't get ay choke connecting nuts/ferrules and the Honda kit containing them is £39. Too much for a bit of plastice so I drilled a piece of 10mm bolt and so far seems to have done the trick.

Will balance the carbs tomorrow now I have a permanent take off for the front cylinder. The balance adjuster screw is in a really accessible spot, isn't it!

Used the ball bearing type balancer as recommended by Sirch (Chris) and really easy. Balance was way out after removal etc but a 50 mile test ride afterwards and she is much smoother than previously. Also my choke cable repair is wirhking just fine.

Oh, going out on the bike straight after watching F1 is interesting. I was going very, very fast...................
