New front disks needed

Post by Styler4077 »

I'm in the process of upgrading my brakes.
So far I've had a replacement master cylinder fitted by Jonesy at the last work shop day along with stainless braided front hoses, (must ask from what model :) )
EBC HH pads
Jonesy also supplied a refurbished set of brake calipers, however the offside front disk is warped and so I need a new set by Saturday's MOT :( :( .

Can anyone recommend some replacements?
Links appreciated

Also what's the best upgrade for the useless rear setup?

Cheers

i'd be interested to see the answer to that one - that's my next job.
well, after the hacked up airbox and je pistons lol :biggrin

someone posted a link not long ago for cheap ebay discs - looked pretty good tbh - forum search?
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I have copied and pasted this from my post in welcome ! I have just fitted the discs ( and pads ) to my bike and they are a big improvement ( my disc was warped )

If you want discs I can do them postage free, pads on their own i would need a couple of quid for postage.

I dont know how good these prices are in comparison to what you can get them elsewhere, but done a quick search online and I think they are pretty good

FA187 standard front pads £13.80 per side
FA187 HH £18.02 per side
Front Discs ( universal fit either side ) £112.90 each
FA174 standard rear pads £12.78
FA174 HH £16.08

All prices include vat and the are genuine EBC products. As I said they do appear competitive but if you know otherwise please let me know.

Hi Stephen, the master was from an 08 Fireblade.
The later calipers from R1 R6 have got a teflon coated aluminium piston which moves much more freely than the OE storm one, this improves things slightly.
I have put a brembo rear master cylinder from an R1 on mine, and the rear brake is great, along with HH pads and braided line, it's about as good as it will get without spending ££££££.
Cheers, Chris.

Banged on a cheap wavy (£28, UK seller on EBlag) with Kyoto GG pads.
Nothing special, but it works ok now.

The guys that rode it on Op Storm seemed to think it was ok, even though it wasn't bedded in properly then.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I've got a Fireblade MCyl, which works great with braided lines. As for the rear - it's more than powerful enough for when the rear is on the ground...

I believe the discs are the same as the ones on a CBR900 Fireblade.

Eblag linky:

And yeah, seems good.
Better than standard, but then I also fitted grippier pads.....

Not too sharp, though.
