Na, what could go wrong?benny hedges wrote:well tbh i think you will kick your own ass when they fail, especially seeing as you've looked at the stats and are aware of the failure rate.colin_linz wrote: At 80'000klm so fare without a problem, I'm curious to see how much longer they will last
the least you should do is replace the old ones with new oem ccts.
the ones you have are expired and imo could fail anytime, but will probably wait until you are miles away from home or really need the bike to impress some local munter.
it's like knowing your tyre is down to the string but leaving it to see what happens when it bursts...
or ignoring the fuel light...
or touching cloth and squeezing it back in...

Re: CCT Failure Survey
One of my Son's CCT's failed on his VTR. He ordered the part, but it was going to take a week to get in. He rode his bike to work and back for a week with it being noisy. It never loosened enough to cause damage. I might just add, I had advised him against ridding it, but what can you do with stubborn guys in their early 20's that know everything? As it turned out, he didn't have a problem. I fitted the CCT for him when it came in, and all has been good for the last couple of years.

Changed mine at around 15 or 16k
the bike was around 27k i think when last looked.... its been a while since ive turned it over or looked at the clock's with it being a mess
i replaced mine (well i say i did, i did and i timed it wrong, and had to get D.Hill to sort the bike out) with OEM's think im gona get some APE ones now tho like the stopper mod idea but looks a bit tricky for me.

Re: CCT Failure Survey
Yep front cct gone. Not sure if theres anymore damage. This might be a stupid question but the spring in the cct has broken at the end, would it be possible to bend the end round and put it in again just till i get new ones?

Re: CCT Failure Survey
er thats asking for it imo.
new oem ccts are only £32 from silvers, or pm rider on a storm & get an order in
best around imo.
don't re-use one that has failed!

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
