2005 storm
2005 storm
So what's the consensus. Are we getting a new, storm for 2005 or what. I'm seriously considering a 600, and if there is no new storm, a 600 it will be. If they would only give it good suspenders, and update the look, i'm sold, any news?????
Personnally I would hang on for a while, definatley think that Honda will do something to fill the gap left by the SP, and am really hoping that they'll fill it with a uprated storm..............Fingers crossed.
"Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut."
Well apart from changing the body work on the storm and putting injection on it I dout that there will be much changes. I'd like to see the SP motor in a storm but I dont think that that will happen as Honda have pulled all there gear drive cam motors out of production (vfr, cbr, sp)
So we will just have to wait I spose.

I hate to sound like the bearer of bad news but I doubt there will be a SP replacement. Or a storm replacement for that matter.iggy1966 wrote:Personnally I would hang on for a while, definatley think that Honda will do something to fill the gap left by the SP, and am really hoping that they'll fill it with a uprated storm..............Fingers crossed.
The fireblade is cutting it in WSB and BSB, why waste millions in developing another SP when you already have a bike winning races?
Where in the great scheme of things does the storm fit? Tourer? The blackbird has that covered. All round / commuter? VFR has that well cornered. The storm seems to be on a limb all on it's own (well, apart from the SV1000) and I cant really see Honda spending any cash on it. I can only imagine that if we do get a "new" storm, it'll be a parts bin special. Remember, the storm was only released as a opener for the SP1, now that thats gone................also, the storm was never really a big seller.
Sorry guys but cant see it happening.
ps. please take heart in the fact that i'm usually wrong about most things.
Rich.

Nowt wrong with 'parts bin specials'. That's what my old Fazer was and, in my humble opinion, it's a better bike than the new model. If Honda want to pull bits off other bikes, that is a cheap option which means we get to keep those elements of the Storm we know and love (?)
Bigger investment means a change of character (I for one don't want an SP) and bigger price. Do you really want to move into the Aprilia price bracket? Facelift, front end from previous Blade (?) revised shock and injection. If you want to do much more, are you sure you really want a Storm?
Of course you could just buy a current Storm, throw a grand at it and, for the price of a common 600 you've got an epic bit of kit.
You are now all free to tell me just how wrong I am

Simon you are massively wrong......
ok I'm doing just that but you did ask for people to tell you how wrong you are.
Took my bike over to Del for some work this weekend, he did some extra bits I didn't even ask for and the bike feels great. Pushed the forks thru the yokes a bit to sharpen the steering, my god
turns, holds a good line.... like a pukka thing now. Nice one Del!

I got knocked down, but i'll get up again and you'll never ever keep me down!
I have to say i agree with cupasoup, I donot believe we'll See a new storm, It will be replaced by, the VFR, and blackbird. IF you want something sportier, it will be a 600rr or the 1000rr. The market for sporting v-twins is dieing a slow death. Those who love the vtwin grunt, will have to either, buy a Aprillia, or Ducati. The 600rr and 1000rr, are moping up in, racing. so why would they improve a niche market motorcycle, which only has one competitor. the SV-1000. Which every comparo i've ever read says to buy a vtr instead of an sv, cheaper and better handling bike. I love my storm. I'll be sad to see it go.
I do hope i am wrong..........

Whew, thank god for that. I thought it was me against the mob for a bit there.vtrick wrote:I have to say i agree with cupasoup
Your deff right Simon, theres not a thing wrong with a parts bin special. Ducati monster and suzi bandit are 2 prime examples. Nothing wrong with the sales of those 2.

2005
Good news might be just over the horizon
I know you shouldn't always believe what the papers say but a couple of weeks ago there was an article in MCN that said there was an updated storm coming over the horizon, newer updated stylings and fuel injected!
