Switch Gear Blade / Firestorm

Post by seb421 »

Having slight issues/

im sh1t with wires me, and hate electric.

is this possible?

Image

i want to cut the connector box off the storm unit and somehow use it on the blade item, the blade item has 8 wires in total going into 7 at the connector box and the Storm has 6 wires going into 5.

i figured i can get them two work as they both have the same workings, ie a brake light switch sensor thing, kill switch and a push button start.

Sorry for the quite frankly piss poor picture.

keep the original plugs on the storm and off the storm switchgear -
get yourself some bullet connectors and a crimp tool
stick the wires where they should go.
you will need a wiring diagram for both bikes, or just open up the switches and see what is what.
should be a piece of piss tbh

might be easier than you think - looks to me like the blade just has 2 extra wires, top left and middle right.
very often you can pull the pins out of the plug and move to a different position, theyre usually just held in with a little retainer, like the clip inside a cable tie...
unless they are mouled plugs (doubt it)

you only need 2 wires for your starter - the blade's is a 2 pole switch whereas the storm is single pole.
i'm guessing 1 pole goes to the alarm or summat or switches both poles of the starter relay.

use a tester to find a normally open contact in the switch and use them 2 wires.

if you are lucky you could pull the wires out of the original storm plug and push the blade pins in the right hole - no need for the bullet connectors.

wiggle the wires where they go in the plug - if they move they will come out. (and go back in)

sounds bit tricky for me, i really dont like electrics stuff at all.

inside the housing the wires look to be kinda plastic welded into place if that makes sense.

so some where along the cables they will need cutting and joining.

can just push the storm pins in the blade connector as sods law they are different pin styles. :( doh!

will take it into work, fingers crossed some one can sort it.

got an idea for this problem

i have ordered male and female bullet connectors, the crimp type so i dont have to wombles about soldering

will cut the head off the storm and the head off the blade unit and try and mate them..... see if i can get away with not having to use all the wires.

will keep you posted :)

have u got some proper crimpers bud??? them cheap flat ones are shite.

ive got some ratchet ones if u want to borrow em.
loads of bullet connectors too lol!

you will find the yellow ones are for up to 6mm wires so i reckon they will be way too big for the job - you want reds / blues. in fact the blues will probably be too big as they do 2.5mm wires and the ones on the ignition will be 1 - 1.5mm iirc

I haven't bought the yellow ones, just the ones from the ebay links, the yellow one was all that i could find on a goolge image search that was a decent size, didn't know they was going be bigger diameter so just used that as the demo pic.

crimper? didn't even know of such tool, was gona use pliers but if they will bugger up the job then would love a borrow mate,

Cheers, Seb.
