Which oil is best to use in my storm 29800 miles

manual recommends 10w/40 semi synthetic.

ive got 15w.40 semi in mine and it seems to like it.
dont put car oil in that has antifriction longlife additive.

Well just brought some castrol gtx part synthetic its just top up the oil until she is serviced soon shu be ok I think ......

Cud not view any oil at all in the window was like oops best top up

is that with the bike on the sidestand????

it should be empty when its on the stand. but saying that i fill mine slightly over so it just shows in the sight glass when its on the stand.
when it's upright the level should be 2/3 in the window.

i just pull the front brake and tip the bike over to check....

Nope this is up right and only when lent tithe right slightly did a hint of oil show.

is the above all ok or shud i top up.

and dont shout i know it shud all be done properly the bike is 1800 miles over due a service now. im financally able to get it done now as before it wasnt an option. so it will be done. but is it ok for now?

not sure i brought the 750ml castrol gtx and ive still about 150ml left ruffly as a guess i didnt use it all anyway.

manual states 3.4 quarts, which is just under 4 litres.
a 5L tub will do you, with plenty for top-up between changes.

I was gobsmacked - I looked up capacities yesterday, 3.9l from oil change - I'd kinda thought I'd change mine and Ps this weekend, not now especially as the Volvo Cambelt repair is up to £400 in parts,...

i have a manual benny but its 70miles away from me @ the mo.just want to keep you's on your toes.

just remembered new oil filter has nut on front to put on but isnt one on old one to take off.remember using my dads filter removing tool on his cortina estate 27 years ago whats the chances its in the shed somewhere.

manual dosnt tell you if there is a tight scotsman way of removing without BUYING the proper tool,lol.

i take it you have a haynes manual then lol

the spendthrift method of old filter removal is thus..... tw@ a screwdriver through the side and twist it off.
that easy.
obviously make sure you have the correct new one before you do so.
and place your mrs's oven tray under the filter as some oil will come out.

*oh btw - it's not a good idea to tighten your new filter in the same way

well thanks for all ur replies gents.

i think ill be ok untill service then as there was some in before (albiet not alot).

i know ur supposed to check oil when cold and as far as i can tell when upright and cold she is ok so untill then i can rest in peace at least.
