It's definately gonna rain, definately...
Failing that I'm getting the Benly out for a very slow and sedate spin round.

Re: bleeedin hyrdaulics
I got the new slave cylinder seal today and spring, wacked it all in and bled it through and I'm pretty much back to square one with the clutch engaging very near the end of its travel! doh.
Perhaps it needs a bit more bleeding? Took it out for a ride this evening and opened it up in top gear and as far as I can tell there is no clutch slip.
Waiting for some oil to turn up from m & p this week so while the oil is out I've got chance to take the clutch cover off and measure the discs/plates. I've had a quick scan through the manual and it would seem that I don't need any special tools unless I take the clutch basket off - is this right?
Failing the clutch plates/discs being the cause - what else is left?
Cheers,
Sam

Re: bleeedin hyrdaulics
does it slip easy when you accelerate full bore (try 2nd & 3rd, full throttle) and just touch the lever....
mine slips around 7000rpm, but only does it when the engine's normal temp...
if it does then new plates & springs m8.
same as mine.
clutch is a consumable item imo

Re: bleeedin hyrdaulics
Whats the "Used the old bit of plastic tube and coke bottle trick" ??
Can you explain further as I too have struggled twice this year with the clutch cylinder, I replaced the fluid first time and wished after two hours I had not bothered and then again this weekend when I fitted a CBR cylinder to match the brake cylinder.
I had no problem bleeding the brake cylinder. Can not figure that one out

I understand the coke and the plastic tube, but what's the bottle trick?

Re: bleeedin hyrdaulics
you just connect a pipe to the bleed nipple and the other end goes into a bottle with some brake fluid in, so when you are pumping the lever, air is expelled but doesn't get sucked back in when the lever returns.Styler4077 wrote:

(only crack the bleed nipple slightly open or it will leak air in around the thread)
doesnt have to be a coke bottle lol, you can use anything within reason.
a wheelie bin would be a bit extreme, a cullender is no good etc...
i use a 1/2 tub of brake fluid, works for me.

Then when that's perfected you can progress up to treating collapsed lungs....

It's a brake fluid bong, basically.
