Re: Operation Storm II - Thunder in Wales - 17th-19th Sept 2
UPDATE
1. Just phoned the camp site and they have plenty of room.
2. Make sure you bring something to put under your side stand as you will be parking your bike on grass.
3. As prompted by AMCQ46
, please send me your mobile number via PM I will put a list together and send it out, with mine, to all who send me theirs. I wouldn't recommend posting it in a public forum.
4. Saturday will be the main day for the ride out. I have a map and a sat nav (with no way of charging it once the battery runs out)
5. Let me know if you want a structured day and route or prefer to play it by ear.
6. Other locals are more than welcome to take on the important task of showing us the best roads. (or non-locals who frequent Wales regularly)
7. There may well be a second run on Sunday led by MJonesy
Let us know if you are up for it.
8. There is a Texaco petrol station less than a mile away from the camp site*
9. There are 5 pubs within 0.5 miles from the camp site.*
10. There are 4 take-aways within 0.5 miles from the camp site*
Can't think of anything else. Feel free to add to it. Oh wait, If you are planning on camping, its probably best not to forget your tent.
*This information is according to google.
2 more sleeps peeps!!

Note: For those that are worried about pace and stuff, ride your own ride

tony had a good suggestion, depending how many are there & who's up for it, break into a fast & moderate group, those who want to pwn off can, and those who don't can smell their burning rubber lolgeodude wrote:

just arrange meeting points beforehand, sorted.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Right, finally made my mind up, not coming.
I want to get moving on engine stripping and have loads of office type work to catch up on, and if I spend all of my money on fuel and beer I won't get the bloody engine done before Christmas.
Just taken my first two Disco bookings for the Christmas silly season, so have the money for bearings, big ends, big end bolts, head gaskets and other head bits, seals and stuff so I'm going to order them.
Thinking of you all, though, pop a backfire under a bridge for me.....

few factors involved -geodude wrote:

depends on weather in the morning.
how many beers i sup tonight & what time i wake up.
if the bike is back together & working ok tonight.
what time mrs gets back from asda.
what time i get back from docs (got another piss test for kidney bricks)
if it turns out it's early pm before i get going, then i'll have a ride east & tie up with cheekykev, who is setting off 2.30-3, in which case should land 5.30 - 6pm
if all is well and bikes ok, sun out, tent packed etc and i decide on an early start, i will obviously get there sooner.
dunno yet, but have waterproofs, will travel

Re: Operation Storm II - Thunder in Wales - 17th-19th Sept 2
nice to meet some more stormers - and a great time was had by all
excellent ride today - amcq setting a very respectable pace on virtually every road in wales lol
no doubt more pics will be added - ive got some but cba just now, im fooked lol.
after the ride today, about 6hrs, i had to get off home cos of mrs working in the morning.... it started to piss down just as i got my bike loaded up, rained all the way lol 150 miles!!
took the a44 then all the way up the a49 - wouldve been a good ride if it was dry & light.
got back very cold, wet & hungry - had a plod behind me from shresbury for about 15 miles but was taking it real slow due to the torrential rain & flooded roads plus getting dazzled by oncoming cars through a wet visor lol..
but just for the usual non-believers.... on the way back i got 141.8 miles from brimmed and the light hasn't come on yet.
in the past ive got over 50 miles from reserve before bottling it and filling up, so the 200 mile record is about to be broken
