500hp Firestorm

Post by DD »

Yep thats right, a dude in Oz claims that his supercharged Storm pumps out 500hp.
I'm not sure if you get the Aussie mag 'Two Wheels' in the UK cos thats were I was reading all about it.
The bike is still stock as far as the internals go apart from ultering the timing to keep up with the bike, but it has a 80's Toyota Crown suppercharger on it and Ducati style pipes (the retro hailwood bike) it is purple and has a sh1t load of pollished bits on it.

I wouldn't have thought the stock internals were good for 200bhp let alone 500. At that sort of power they'd be chocolate, surely.

To get 500bhp you're usually talking billet this, titanium that, and forged the-other.

Blown VTR

Post by vtrlewy »

Viewed that particular bike at Phillip Island's MotoGP last year. It was in the show & shine (I think it actually won). It is more of a show bike than a serious attempt at a performance bike. I will buy the mag tommorow just to read that article. I remember reading somewhere that if you squeeze any more than 130 hp from VTR the engine cases call it quits where the swing arm pivots from.

Lewy, are you going to the GP this year? I'm flying in and then riding a Cagiva up to Brisbane, I'm looking forward to it and getting back to QLD a real nice corner of the world that.

I'm about to ring a mate to see if he can scan parts of the artical so as I can post it here.

HP or BHP, two very different scales of power if I remember. The B takes into account friction and all the other forces that act negatively on the power of an engine. BHP is the "measured to reality" power, whereas HP is the raw one.
